What is outsource purchasing?
Outsourcing is achieved when a company contracts a part of its work to an outside agency. The agency works from its own facility, using its own equipment, technology and personnel. Businesses often seek outside sources for professional services, such as accounting, payroll and legal professionals. Is MedCost a group purchasing organization?
No, MedCost works with a national Group Purchasing Organization but there are substantial differences. A Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) can offer valuable services and good vendor discounts to practices. However, GPO discounts usually apply to only a fraction of the items you use. The contracts are typically presented through a series of preferred manufacturers and vendors, and it is incumbent upon the end user (you) to do the purchasing and quantify the savings.

Can I place orders with MedCost before becoming a client?
No, MedCost has an initial start up phase which includes data collection, client interviews, and data entry as well as an extensive rostering process for each of our contracts. Access to our pricing portfolio is not available unless you are a client in good standing with MedCost.
